LIAM Feeney is mulling over an offer of international football from Northern Ireland.

Michael O’Neill has been looking to convince the Hammersmith-born Wanderers winger to represent the country for the last three years.

Feeney qualifies through his mother’s family, who are based in Londonderry, but has asked for time before making his decision.

“There’s been some interest but I’m still weighing up my options and hopefully it’s something that will happen for me,” he said.

“I’d love to play international football for someone but it’s important to my family so I have to talk it over with them first and make the right decision.

“They’ve supported me the whole way and I want to make them proud.”

Feeney could be called into the squad to face Qatar in a friendly on May 31 and could be swayed by the lure of a potential European Championships next summer.

“Discussions have been ongoing with Liam. He isn't ready yet to commit to playing international football with Northern Ireland," O’Neill added.

“I met the player and we know his manager well. He wants to give it some more thought, but hopefully he will come on board.”
