FARNWORTH skipper Simon Booth takes his team to Westhoughton tomorrow hoping his talented bowling attack can keep them at the summit of the Bolton League.

It is tight at the top with this weekend's opponents just two points behind Farnworth in fifth.

But after victory against Egerton last weekend, Booth is confident his team can get the wickets to secure another victory.

Adil Nisar was the star turn with the ball against Egerton, taking 6-23 in the 58-run triumph.

But he has been more than ably supported by summer arrival Melbourne Austin, who currently sits third in the league bowling averages after taking 13 wickets.

Professional Kamran Sajid has already bagged 12 wickets while Curtis Anderton has 16 in what has been a good start for the Lavender Road outfit.

Booth told The Bolton News: "The good thing for us this season is that we have a strong bowling attack with six genuinely good bowlers.

"They have shared the wickets around and it has been great for us.

"Melbourne has come in from Crompton and Bamford Fieldhouse and settled in really quickly.

"He is a wily old fox who is good with both bat and ball.

"He is vastly experienced having played in both the Central Lancashire and Saddleworth Leagues and he is also a character in the dressing room.

"When you add in the likes of Adil , Curtis and Kamran, we have plenty of options."

Anderton will be absent this weekend but Booth is banking on his other bowlers to cause what he rates as a good Westhoughton side problems.

He added: "Last weekend's performance has set us up nicely for this one.

"It was a good game against Egerton, if a little odd that they won the toss and put us into bat.

"Kamran got his first half-century for us, which was pleasing. He batted well on a difficult and sticky wicket.

"In reply, Melbourne took two early wickets but a good partnership of 90 or so from their pro Mahela Udawatta – who we dropped early on – and Danny Partington looked to put them on the road to victory.

"We changed the bowling to bring Adil on and he took six wickets.

"Hopefully, we can do the same again though we know Westhoughton are a good side.

"Mark Atherton, who used to play for us, is there and being two good teams, anything can happen on the day."
