MALACHI Mitchell-Thomas endured a Bank Holiday meeting to forget in the fourth round of the Superstock 600 Championship after he crashed out at Donington Park.
The 19-year-old Horwich rider was well placed in third before he was involved in an collision triggered by an error of judgement from another competitor, who took him out along with two other riders.
Fortunately, they all escaped unhurt but Mitchell-Thomas' hopes of points were dashed after he was forced to retire.
"It was a disappointing end to a promising weekend to be cut short by something I couldn't help.” he said
The weekend had started so well for the teenager, who started on the front row, second on the grid, following a fantastic qualifying session on the Derbyshire track.
The collision deprived Mitchell-Thomas of the opportunity to add to the 30 points collected from the opening three rounds.
But the young rider refused to dwell on the disappointment.
He said: “I just have to take it on the chin and look forward to the next round."
Mitchell-Thomas is now looking forward to the next round at Snetterton in four weeks time.
