WANDERERS winger Liam Feeney is backing his former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe to have a bright future in the game.

Howe was voted the League Manager's Association's manager of the year this week – pipping Chelsea's Jose Mourinho to the honour after guiding the Cherries to the Premier League for the first time.

And Feeney, who worked under Howe in his first spell at Dean Court four years ago, believes it is a deserved award for a manager he rates highly.

Feeney told Shoot: "He was a great manager even back when I played under him and he’s meticulous in everything he does.

"Back then you could tell he was going to be a top manager and his record down there is unbelievable.

"He can be what he wants.

"I fully expect him to be at a top club in the future.”

Feeney spent two years with the Cherries before moving to Millwall and then to Wanderers a year ago.

He was part of the team that survived the drop out of the Football League in 2009.

And he admits the rise to the top-flight from that position in just six years has been remarkable.

"It’s been amazing," added the 28-year-old Wanderers midfielder.

"It’s great to see they’ve got some backing and they’re still playing great football.

"Eddie Howe has gone back and done an amazing job and I’m pleased for the town.

"It’s the first result I look out for on a Saturday after I’ve finished my own game.

"I’ve still got some friends down there and I really enjoyed my time there.”
