NORMAN Fletcher clinched the BGA Seniors Championship Trophy at Bolton Golf Club last week when he produced an excellent 74 gross.
The long-serving member of Chorley and still holding on to a handicap of three, was delighted with his win.
“This was my first attempt in this championship since becoming a senior and it was rather special” said the 65 year-old Fletcher.
“The organisation of the event was superb and I will hope to be back next year.”
Home club player, Ged Gaffey, was runner-up with a 76 gross while Steve Higham came in with a 78 gross to take third place.
In the 55-65 category, Paul Kennedy of Great Lever produced an exceptional 61 nett and Peter Smith of Regent Park claimed second place with a 68 nett. Westhoughton’s Geoff Hindley was third also with a 69 following a card-play off.
In the 65-plus category, the overall winner was Ron White from Regent Park with a 69 nett followed by Old Links member, Doug Botterill, in second place with Jack Crompton of Hart Common third – all with a 69 nett.
