A LADIES football team are getting ready for their new season their preparations have delivered silverware to Chew Moor.

CMB entered the inaugural Women’s Commentary Cup five-a-side competition held at the Derby Soccerdome.

The Ladies lined up against the following teams, Bilbrook Ladies (Wolverhampton), Hasland CFC (Chesterfield), Leeds United Ladies, Rugby Ladies and Melton Mowbray Ladies.

CMB overcame Hasland 6-1 with hat-tricks for Mel Darby and Sam Parish and they followed it up with a 2-0 win against Rugby 2-0 thanks to a brace by Nic Wynne.

They qualified for the last four after finishing group winners.

They faced Melton Mowbray who were beaten 3-1 with Parish bagging a brace and Mel Darby also on target.

In the final the Ladies were to come face to face with Hasland CFC again who had beaten pre tournament favourites Leeds utd on sudden death penalties in the other semi final game.

CMB won the final against Hasland 2-1 with goals from Nic Wynne and Sam Parish.

It is more success in the history of the fledgling club.

They started in 2012 and in their first season they were Lancashire County Division One runners-up and then the following season they were crowned champions and were promoted to the North West Women’s Regional League as well as finishing runners-up in the Lancs League Cup.

Meanwhile, last season they finished third in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One.

The Ladies have also competed in the Women’s FA Cup and won their first-ever game in the competition by beating Carlisle United earlier this season.

CMB Ladies are gearing up for their second season in the North West Women's Regional League Division One with the aim of trying to get promoted to the Premier League.

They play their home games at CMB Sports Ground, Tempest Road, Lostock on Sunday afternoons (all 2pm).
