WANDERERS (3-5-2)

BEN AMOS 6

One fine close-range save from Hemed. Should he have bowled the ball out to Vela just before Brighton’s third? Possibly not. But can’t be blamed entirely.

DORIAN DERVITE 5

Made one clearance off the line in the second half but got caught napping for Brighton’s first goal. Doesn’t look comfortable in a three.

ROB HOLDING 7.5

Class above the rest. Used the ball well, brought it out of defence, and his positioning was spot on. Earning rave reviews for a reason.

DERIK OSEDE 6

Asked to do a job on the left side of defence and didn’t let anyone down despite coming up a difficult customer in Anthony Knockaert.

JOSH VELA 5.5

Not one of the youngster’s best games. Caught out for the first goal and should have cleared the danger for the third. Too pedestrian in possession.

JAY SPEARING 6.5

Buzzed around midfield and helped drag Wanderers back into it, scoring the second. But why, oh, why did he not take a ‘tactical yellow’ for second goal?

DARREN PRATLEY 5

Pratley was asked to get forward as much as possible but didn’t get into the game nearly enough to make a significant difference.

MARK DAVIES 4

Was completely anonymous before making the mistake that eventually cost his side the game. The one-time Premier League star is looking anything but.

WELLINGTON SILVA 5.5

Showed a few little flashes of skill and got his usual rough treatment from the Brighton defenders but wasn’t given enough of the ball to do damage.

LIAM FEENEY 5

Came into the game a little more in the second half but generally speaking Feeney was disappointing considering his recent performances.

EMILE HESKEY 6.5

The old legs kept going for 90 minutes and grabbed a goal too. Wanderers fans can have little complaint with the shift Heskey put in at the Amex.

Subs: Clough 66 (for Wellington) – Struggled to get in game 5

Woolery 84 (for Davies) – Didn’t arrive in time 5

Danns 89 (for Spearing) – Too late to matter 5

Not used: Rachubka, Dobbie, Twardzik, Finney.

Correctly waved away a couple of unimpressive penalty appeals from Brighton before hobbling off himself with a calf injury in the second half.
