SPORTS Shield will look to provide the Football League with the financial paperwork they need to pass their takeover at Wanderers this week.

After meeting with the league on Friday the consortium was asked to provide more proof of the funds they have in place for next season – be that as a Championship or League One club.

Holdsworth watched from the directors’ box alongside current owner Eddie Davies on Saturday as the Whites fell 2-1 in the Lancashire derby against Burnley.

Manager Neil Lennon is still unclear when he will sit down and speak about his own future at the Macron Stadium.

“There are no plans to speak with Dean at the moment,” he said. “I know the league wanted to see more information on how they can take the club forward next season as well.

“I assume once that has been ratified then Dean will have the chance to speak to everyone and then show us what he wants to do.”

Lennon is not making predictions on whether the league will pass the takeover but believes that Holdsworth’s persistence in what has been a long and frustrating chase to buy the club has been admirable.

“I'm really fed up of talking about it,” he said. “I've been saying this for a long time, Dean's worked really, really hard at this.

“He's put his heart and soul into it so if anyone deserves to get (the takeover done) it’s him. Whether it goes through or not I cannot say – if it does then hopefully we can get the embargo lifted and strengthen the squad.”
