BOLTON-born batsman Haseeb Hameed hit a maiden first-class century for Lancashire today but it was not enough to earn the Red Rose outfit victory against Warwickshire.

The 19-year-old former Farnworth Social Circle and Egerton cricketer suffered a duck in the first innings of the Championship Division One clash but bounced back in style to hit seven fours as he reached 103 before falling lbw to Rikki Clarke in Lancashire's second innings.

The Red Rose declared on 266-8 but the visitors saw the game out for a draw despite another wicket for another Boltonian Matt Parkinson on day four.

Parkinson trapped opener Varun Chopra for 48 as Warwickshire batted to 195-2 to follow up his five wickets in the first innings.

The 19-year-old spin bowler, who played for Heaton and attended Bolton School and sixth form at Canon Slade, had a first-class county debut to remember with figures of 5-49 in the first innings, which included the scalp of former England Test batsman Jonathan Trott.
