ASTLEY Bridge recorded their first win against Heaton in the only match in the North Section last Friday.

Bridge lost two early wickets, but Yasir Rashid smashed a half century from 31 deliveries and was well supported by professional Syd De Silva and Tasheen Kazim who both scored in the twenties.

They ended on 160-6 with the pick of the Heaton bowlers Mustafir Bashir and Joe Ducker with two wickets each.

Heaton ended 13 runs short, losing their momentum after Adam Halton and professional Humayun Farhat put them well on course with a half century first-wicket partnership.

On Tuesday evening Lostock recorded a one-run victory at Bradshaw.

A 76-run opening partnership between Jaydyn Simmons – who hit a half century and – Connor Hicklin with 33 set Lostock on their way to 149-7.

There were two wickets apiece for Phil Dickinson, Jordy Mason and Jamie Legg.

Oliver Turner took three early wickets for Lostock, and at the halfway point Bradshaw had only put 50 runs on the board.

Chris Evans hit 53 off 32 balls, but Bradshaw were unable to hit the boundary required for victory off the last ball, Nick Lester remaining unbeaten on 46.

Eagley and Heaton are joint leaders with 25 points going into the last matches on Friday, but victory for Lostock at Eagley will allow them to overtake their rivals and secure one of the quarter-final places.

It is not so straightforward for Bradshaw who must defeat Heaton at the Rigbys, obtaining one more bonus point than Heaton and two more than Eagley in the process.

Westhoughton moved into second place against Adlington in the West Section with a comfortable seven-wicket victory with almost four overs remaining. Adlington made 122-6 with professional Majid Majeed hitting a half century and receiving support from Simon Trim with 21.

Kieran Edwards took 3-32 and Danny Naylor 2-11. Professional Qaisar Abbas lead the run chase with 63, with contributions from Mark Atherton, 20 and Oliver Newby 27.

Adlington lead the West table with 28 points, but have no match on Friday and can be overtaken by Horwich who need to win at home to Daisy Hill or Westhoughton who need just one bonus point.
