HANNAH Kelly’s summer continued to get better at the Mason Trophy Inter Counties Schools’ Championships at Birmingham.

Competing in the orange vests of Greater Manchester, she clocked yet another 200m personal best.

Her 24.91secs for a comfortable victory now ranks her sixth in the UK.

Moreover, in breaking the 25-second barrier, coach Les Hall believes it is the quickest time ever by a female Bolton United athlete.

At the age of 15, that’s some achievement and there is surely more to come.

Taiwo Taiwo also continued to make good progress in the 200m with another pb of 25.74. She collected silver with a time that ranks her 14th in the UK. She then won bronze in the u15s girls’ 4x100m relay.

Georgia Lever leapt 5.19m in the long jump to finish sixth.

She then joined Kelly to run the second and third legs of the Inter girls’ 4x100m, as they do for Bolton. The changeover was immaculate and helped in taking second.

Fellow u17s athlete Daniel Morrison also finished sixth in the discus with a new pb of 32.59m, while Zak Grundy completed the 400m hurdles in 69.14.

Elsewhere, in the England Athletics u20/u23 Championships in Bedford, Chris Mann registered 2.03m for fourth place in the high jump.

Simon Dally was first of the 20-strong squad of Blue Vests in the fifth Central Lancs GP fixture from Rivington – his 23:38 for the Horwich Jubilee 5 miles was sixth of the 247 field.

Dom Gavin edged out club-mate Chris Povey by six seconds as they fought over 16th, while Nicky Cartridge again showed her class, taking first in the women’s race with a margin of over two minutes.

Andrew Gallagher led the B team counters that included the returning Stefan Nan and juniors Olivia Kearney and Rachel Bailey.

Geoff Knowles bookended the team to ensure BUH&AC maintained its lead over Burnden in the A, B and Vets’ series after both teams recorded their worst scores of 2016, though the positions are reversed in the female competition.

Earlier, Isabella Merritt was first girl and fourth overall in the junior race, clocking 6:11.

Just behind were Harvey Kenny’s 6:26 (ninth) and Liam Allison in 40th.
