ASTLEY and Tyldesley's dismal run of injuries continued as they went down to an 88-56 defeat to Northern League Division One leaders, Edinburgh, at Gin Pit on Sunday.

After the first three races were all drawn, heat four saw A&T suffer a major blow, when Lee Phillips sustained a broken wrist after a first-bend clash with an opponent and is ruled out for the rest of the season.

With no reserve to replace him, the home side A&T were forced to ride the match a man short.

Edinburgh won 7-2 in the re-run, to take an overall lead.

A&T fought hard to stay in the match, sharing the next three heats to make the score 37-32 after heat seven.

The second half saw the Scots take control and they recorded five maximum heat wins.

Reece Pollitt was A&T's best performer with three race wins, and Paul Graham opened with two race wins.

A&T maintained their 100 per cent winning record in the Division Two match which followed. Max Evans and Matt Snell both raced unbeaten, with solid scores from the rest of the team.

Danny Pickup excelled in his debut match, winning his first two races, as A&T ran out convincing 86-63 winners.

Defending champions A&T kept up their Division Three title challenge, with a comfortable 73-37 victory.

Matt Snell again raced unbeaten, with another good score from Danny Pickup.
