THE Bank Holiday weekend saw many high scoring games and goals galore in the Bolton at Home Sunday League.

The match of the day resulted in a nine-goal thriller between table toppers Astley Bridge Elite and Top Club, who ran out 5-4 winners.

Astley Bridge took the lead after five minutes with a penalty only for Lewis Porter to equalise with another penalty.

Astley Bridge regained the lead through Darren Smethurst but Porter equalised again before Top Club edged ahead, Jordan Deane getting the goal.

They went further ahead with a goal from Sam Kelly to make it 4-2 at the break.

In the second half both teams attacked relentlessly but it was not until the final 15 minutes when Astley Bridge scored twice to make the game all square.

Top Club had one last trick up their sleeve, substitute Travis Vaughn who sensationally grabbed the winner in the last minute, a stunner that flew into the top corner of the net.

New leaders Bradford Arms, who are now top on goal difference, beat Church 6-1 with Fielding scoring twice and Alcock, Martin, Sharples and Littlewood also on target.

Queen Anne moved up to second in the table with a convincing 7-3 win against D Havilland, courtesy of Niall Callaghan's hat-trick and two each from Mitch Leece and Benson Johnson.

Southfields recorded their first win of the season, a resounding 9-1 victory at Bridge Celtic with braces for McGuiness and Parr and further goals by Higgins, Nugent, Greaves, and the two Laffertys.

The day's shock result in Division Two came in the local derby on Queens Park where Deane FC came from behind three times to run out 5-3 winners against leaders Deane Wanderers. Man-of-the-match Craig Holt produced a brilliant performance in the Deane goal while Dumbarton and Smajic scored two apiece and Stewart the other goal.

Newbury beat Church Reds 6-4, Sloane and Halliwell both grabbing hat-tricks, and Atherton Villa ran out 3-0 winners against Railway Hotel.

Though Railway's defender Jordan Jones had scored an own goal he was still awarded the man of the match, but for him the scoreline could have been much greater.
