For anyone who grew up in the Sixties this was the kind of playground you are likely to remember.
This photo is from the summer of 1965 and shows youngsters enjoying the playground in Farnworth complete with its swings, roundabouts and slide.
And that’s some slide. Somehow you can’t imagine such a high structure being allowed in a children’s play area today.
Notice the girl on the left lying down on the roundabout as it goes round - did anyone else do that?
Whatever you played on you weren’t likely to get a soft landing - it looks as though all the ‘rides’ were on concrete bases. Hopefully this photo will bring back fond childhood memories for many Looking Back readers.
