People from across the borough had the chance to experience the thrill of riding in an F1 racing car today.
The University of Bolton’s National Centre for Motorsport Engineering had a STEM showcase event today offering residents the chance to take to the wheel of a ‘thrilling’ F1 race stimulator.
State-of-the-art simulators recreated the excitement of driving a high-performance motor racing car around a track at the Racing Car Simulation Event and STEM Showcase, which ran from noon to 3pm on Saturday (April 13).

The aim of the event was to demonstrate the cutting-edge teaching facilities and wide range of programmes on offer at NCME, which include motorsport and automotive performance engineering and electric vehicle technology.
Yasmin Qureshi, the Labour MP for Bolton South East attended the event.
She said: “The event was absolutely fantastic, and it was a real pleasure to be there and to see how much the university is doing in the field of engineering and science.
“Encouraging young people to go into engineering and showing them all the possible careers.
“Bolton University is going from strength to strength, what with the first crop of medical students starting next year, then dentistry and the Veterinary school.
“It was a brilliant event, well organised and needed and I was pleased to be there.”
President and Vice Chancellor Professor George Holmes DL said today's event attracted almost 200 people from across Greater Manchester.
The university demonstrated how advanced mathematics and physics is applied to solve real world problems.
University Provost, Professor Zubair Hanslot said: "I am a local person lived all my life in Bolton Greater Manchester and I have witnessed first-hand how the university goes from strength to strength in its engagement with the communities that we serve.
"As we enter the milestone in the development of the new £40m medical school, we remain focused in applying engineering principles to medicine towards developments in robotic surgery, technology assisted living and AI for diagnostics and disease prevention.
"Today's showcases sets the benchmark in how to impart knowledge."
