A man has been charged after a spate of burglaries.

Ryan Smedley, of Wigan Road, Westhoughton, has been accused of two counts of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The 42-year-old has been remanded into custody and will appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, April 30.

The case comes as a result of an investigation into burglaries that occurred between April 21 and 28.

Detective Sergeant Carla Deighton of Greater Manchester Police's Bolton District, said: “As always, burglary remains a priority for our neighbourhood team, and we are determined to tackle the issue and prevent it.
